Today was Fiza's Mayoon, and the courtyard in the middle of the house was decorated with yellow and pink flowers. In the centre of it all sat Fiza, dressed in a yellow sharara, her dupatta pinned neatly to her head, flower jewelry looped delicately around her wrists, her neck, and braided into her hair.
The rasm had already begun as the elders of the family stepped forward one by one to apply haldi on her glowing face.
